Often times I’m asked the question “What does it take to reach the highest level of football?”. Of course you have to have talent and you must be disciplined but more importantly you have to first decide in your mind that you are going to do all the things necessary to be great. Then, you spend every waking moment working towards your goal.
DECIDE WHAT’S NECESSARY
The game of football doesn’t change. The playing field is still 100 yards long, and each yard, 3ft apart. But always remember, football…like “life”, is a gladiator sport. This means that you must be willing to always do the things that the person across from you isn’t willing to do in order to win.
Ask yourself these questions:
- What’s my purpose?
- What’s my goal?
- What steps do I need to take in order to get there?
MASTER THE MOMENT
There is an old quote that says, “Master the moment, but don’t let the moments be the master”. Creating the life you want to live requires us to take advantage of every minute. Using each second gifted to us to become better than we were yesterday.
We all have the same 24 hours in a day, but the people who win in football and life are those that do more with their 24 hours than the average person.
